Bandos Maldives – A wonderful experience

Dinner at the beach of Bandos Maldives

We finally got round to writing a review of the perfect week stay at Bandos Maldives. January was a great month to holiday, especially if you are looking to celebrate your honeymoon. We had uninterrupted sunshine and sunny weather for the entire week we stayed at this beautiful island.

The transfer from the airport was seamless and took around 15 minutes. We were greeted on arrival by the smiling staff and a lovely refreshing iced tea before directing us to our room. We were given complimentary wine and a fresh fruit platter since we were on our honeymoon. The holiday was off to a fantastic start. The room we stayed in had everything we needed including hair dryer, fridge, aircon, tea and coffee making facilities, etc.. Bandos management made everything sure that our stay was flawless and amazing. On my birthday, the turn-down staff (Mr Azur, I believe) made an absolute master piece of bed art, with leaves cut into dolphins and stars. The effort that they went to was amazing, and so appreciated. It really capped off a heavenly birthday on the island.

For food I must say that there are more than enough options available on the island. The Gallery restaurant is where half-board and full-board diners eat and it had a really great variety of curries, international dishes, vegetables, soups and desserts in the evening. We aren’t big dessert fans, so stuck to the savories and didn’t ever get bored of the options. For breakfast, you could get an omelet made and there were waffles, cooked breakfast, cereals, porridge, fruit etc. We have no complaints the food as it was delicious and perfect. The waiters who waited on us were marvelous and friendly. They struck a perfect balance of chat and leaving us to ourselves. They were happy tell us about the Maldivian life, its folklore, etc… We were very lucky to get a complimentary massage by the Orchid Spa and it was perfect way to start off another honeymoon day at this beautiful paradise.

We were even invited to a cocktail party on the beach but we weren’t expecting too much other than a boring promotional talk about the island a cocktail. But we were so wrong!  We were welcomed to make our own cocktails, with help from the island bartenders. There were such delicious nibbles on offer such as sushi and bruschetta. They held a raffle, and offered free massages, surrounded by candles on the beach. We had such a great evening chatting to the staff, especially the FD on the island (being two accountants ourselves) it was great to hear more about island life and he was such a pleasure to talk to.

The island beaches are as they look in the photos and it was idyllic. The foliage surrounding the island was beautiful and so was the turquoise lagoons and the island. We even got the chance to snorkel around the island and it was a wonderful experience. We saw amazing reefs and marine creatures.  Overall, I must say that we loved our honeymoon in Bandos Maldives.
